Creating a unified framework for recognizing,
responding, and respecting SIF precursors

As part of the 2026 campaign, Construction Safety Week will introduce three targeted technical bulletins that align with the theme pillars of “Recognize, Respond and Respect.” The bulletins aim to provide a unified framework and approach for recognizing, responding and respecting the complex high energy hazards teams face to proactively prevent serious injuries and fatalities.

Created in collaboration with the Safety Week Technical Committee and shaped with input from industry leaders, safety experts and skilled craft professionals, these bulletins reflect the shared responsibility to protect lives across every phase of the project life cycle. By aligning terminology and expectations, they aim to establish a stronger safety standard from the earliest planning stages.

2025-2026 Technical Bulletins

Technical Bulletin #1: Recognize
Identifying High Energy, High Hazards & STCKY as Common Precursors of Serious Injuries & Fatalities

To truly prevent serious injuries and fatalities in construction, we must move beyond fragmented approaches and communication, and embrace a unified framework for hazard recognition and prevention. This bulletin highlights the need for consistent terminology and standardized approaches. It also underscores the importance of proactive risk management, direct controls, and respecting safety protocols throughout the project life cycle, aiming to significantly reduce fatality rates and set a new benchmark for safety excellence.
